The Philippines has a really scary history, and one that’s not well-known by people living outside the country. After being under Spanish rule for a long time, they fought against U.S. forces and then the Japanese forces in WWII. This movie shows the end of the Spanish rule as Captain Morenas and Lieutenant Cerezo defended a siege at San Luis Obispo Church against the Tagalog rebels. It’s a one gut-punching film, and features uniforms and practices that actually transpired during the tumultuous time period.
