If you remember rightly, Hedley Lamarr is the ultimate Blazing Saddles antagonist. He is smart, he is evil, and he seems to have no value for human life. However, it’s Lamarr’s name that caused the most controversy away from the cameras.
The MGM legend, Hedy Lamarr, was not happy about the similarities between her name and the name of the Blazing Saddles villain. She knew that such a connection would affect her career, and eventually decided to take Mel Brooks to court. Thankfully, they settled their differences outside of the court.
