Although Mel Brooks was a busy man, he tried to put all of his efforts into writing the script for Blazing Saddles. Unfortunately, this went down the pan when his wife went into labor, and they welcomed their son into the world.
With a new addition to his family and extra responsibility, Mel felt even more pressure than ever to complete his movie and make money for his new legacy. During this time, Brooks compared himself to the famous author, Charles Dickens, who also took on more work to pay his way in life.
