Before she took on the role of Lili von Shtupp in Blazing Saddles, Madeline Kahn worked on the comedy musical, Mame – alongside the likes of Lucille Ball and Robert Preston.
Unfortunately, things didn’t end too well for Mame, as she was fired from the movie just one day before picking up her role in Mel Brooks’ Western. Lucille Ball has since confessed that she thinks Madeline purposely got herself fired so she could put all of her attention into her new role in the Western world.
