When creating his exceptional Western satire, Mel Brooks knew that he wanted to provide something different for the fans – especially when it came to the music.
So, instead of incorporating the music in the background, Mel wanted to incorporate this music into the foreground and started planning some extravagant and detailed scenes. To put his plan into action, he enlisted the help of the esteemed musician, Count Basie, and his band, to play the unforgettable “April in Paris” song during their travels through the desert. We can hear it now!
