We’ve been talking so much about what happened behind the scenes after the filmed got started, but we haven’t yet revealed how the entire inception for the movie took place.
It all started when Mel Brooks was walking down the streets of New York, looking in the gutters for change. He had just worked on The Producers and The Twelve Chairs, but they hadn’t made him much money. That’s when he heard a voice say “Mel.”
