Governor Le Petomane was actually based on the life of Joseph Pujol, who was more commonly known as the ‘flatulence artist.’ This actor worked under the stage name of Le Petomane, which literally translates to ‘fart maniac,’ and was known for his ability to pass a heck load of hot air.
