If you’re a fan of Western movies, there’s a high chance that you’re familiar with George ‘Gabby’ Hayes. As one of the legends of the Western genre, Gabby was an incredible actor with an impressive talent under his belt.
During his casting search, Mel Brooks came across the actor Jack Starrett, who he soon realized could impersonate Gabby perfectly. In fact, this was the reason that Jack was given the role. Brooks told Jack that he wanted Jack to impersonate the legend in their movie, so he did exactly as he was told.
