Caroline is a comic strip cartoonist who makes the big move to New York City from Wisconsin. Duffy has a successful cartoon, however, she has a strong need for people to like her and she often finds herself meddling in the lives of others, which gets her into a lot of trouble. Throughout the series, Caroline dates many men such as Richard who Caroline does not have feelings for originally. Eventually, she does fall in love with Richard and he even shows up to interrupt her wedding to someone else.
