Richard Karinsky is a struggling artist who lives in a bad part of New York City and works as a colorist for Caroline’s comic strip. He is in a substantial amount of student debt as he took out a loan to attend art school and he constantly thinks he is going to get his big break, however, his opportunities always end in failure. Richard doesn’t think that Del is intelligent and he and Caroline eventually develop a relationship. In the last episode of the series, Richard interrupts her wedding to another man.
