Here we have a movie that may have got a lot of the “what” correct – but not necessarily the “who.” The movie focuses on the Mayan civilization, and without beating around the bush, the Mayans are portrayed to be the kind who engaged in human sacrifice.
The problem is that this was more of an Aztec trait, whereas the Mayans were known to be more of a peaceful civilization. In addition, the timing of the Spaniards’ arrival at the end was off by about 400 years.
