When Abby Miller walked off the set, people were sure the show would be instantly shut down, but the producers had a back up plan and soon brought in Cheryl Burke to be the girls’ new coach. It was immediately clear that Cheryl’s coaching style was different from Abby’s, and she made a point to note that while she might be strict, she did not believe in yelling at the girls. She later shared that she didn’t want her pupils to leave traumatized and lose their love of dance.
