Yes, Seinfeld was intentionally populated by awful, horrible people. In fact, that’s why it was so groundbreaking. Larry David and Jerry Seinfeld himself made a conscious effort to buck the trend of all other lovey-dovey sitcoms and just give us the worst people ever. But in the end, they all had some redeeming qualities – all, except George Constanza. George was a cheap, angry little man who lived with his parents and wasn’t about using his fiancée’s passing for sympathy. With George, we weren’t laughing with him – we were laughing at him.
