One number that isn’t fabricated is the budget that each episode needs from start to finish. $50,000. We now know that contestants don’t rake much in, so where does it all go? Apparently, the producers buy the family’s lunch every day they are filming, as well as all the traveling costs going between the locations. Once the crew have all received their paychecks, it all comes together at quite the price. At over 400 episodes a year, they’re looking at spending over $20 million for the show.
