You may have noticed that this gigantic creature looks a bit familiar to an animal that currently exists. Though it is obviously much bigger than its distant relative, the glpytodon is actually in the same family as the armadillo.
That’s right, this massive beast is actually related to the rather small armadillo. There is definitely a clear resemblance between the two animals, but it seems like the armadillo has adapted to a new size over the millions of years in comparison to its ancient cousin.
