While there is obviously another animal that is known for having a shell, the glyptodon is actually quite different than it. Yes, though they both have protective shells, turtles and these ancient animals have a few various differences.
The main ones are that turtles are reptiles and glyptodons are mammals and that while turtles can bring their heads back into their shells, glyptodons are not capable of doing this. So, while the two may superficially resemble each other, they’re not even related.
