It is believed that the glyptodon lived in the Pleistocene epoch, which lasted around 2,500 to 11,700 years ago. Scientists date their extinction to be close to the end of the last Ice Age. They may have been a heavily armored tank, but the creatures were just not built to last.
Just like the dinosaurs, mammoths, and sabertooth tigers, the glyptodon also became extinct. At least there are still fossils all around for us to find and learn more about these fascinating animals.
