Elizabeth North starts out as a supporting character but by the fifth season of the show, she is bumped up to a fully fledged main character. She was originally the chairwoman of the Republican National Committee (RNC) and works her way up to being a top campaigner for Fitz’s presidential campaign. She moves up the ladder even further when she becomes Fitz’s Chief of Staff upon Fitz firing of Cyrus Beene. In a dramatic twist of events she gets fired from her position and Cyrus reclaims his role.
