Believe it or not, but there is a Village of Dwarfs in Sichuan Province, China. The town is only made up of 80 people, but round 36 of those have been diagnosed with dwarfism.
That means that 40% of the village measures between 2-foot-one-inch and 3-foot-ten-inches. However, it’s been noted there were once as many as 119 dwarfs living in the village. Scientists have been baffled for years as the chance of having a child with the condition is around one in 20,000.

Scientists have been trying to figure out a reason for all the births for many years. Local myths state the previous villagers never gave their ancestors proper burials meaning the condition cursed the village.
Others report it’s all down to a toxic gas, while elders have told tales of the children one day waking up never to grow again. For years, scientists believed it was down to high levels of mercury in the soil, but now it seems as though it’s all down to sheer coincidence.
