Blake arrived in Nashville in 1994, just two weeks after he graduated from high school. He soon got a job at a Nashville music publishing company, but he eventually lost it because he was spending his time there talking to songwriters when he was supposed to be working.
While this was his first music-related job, his first job overall was roofing houses in Ada for two summers during high school – under the supervision of his stepfather, who was his boss!
