In 2001, Blake released “Austin,” his first single, and it was a hit! In fact, it stayed number one on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart for five weeks.
Its success wasn’t limited to the country music genre, as it reached number 18 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. The song is about a woman who breaks up with her boyfriend and moves to Austin. When she calls him a year later, his answering machine greeting ends with: “And P.S. If this is Austin, I still love you.”
