The leading theory seemed to be that the Tamaya 1’s owner may have become insolvent, and was thus unable to pay the crew’s wages, which in turn prompted them to simply and unceremoniously abandon ship.
“Our best bet,” a port authority source said, “is that the vessel’s owner might have gone broke and had no money to pay crew members.” There was, however, another possible explanation to the mystery of the disappearance of the Tamaya 1’s crew.
