When Evelyn got engaged to Teddy, Charlie and Alan were introduced to his daughter, Courtney. Charlie immediately falls in love with Courtney but her father tells Charlie to stay away. Of course, he does not listen to him or Alan who warns him that Courtney is a bit cuckoo. Courtney claims that her father is cutting her off and Charlie lends her $50,000, and the pair begin dating. Charlie asks Courtney to marry him right before his mother marries her father. It is then revealed that Courtney and Teddy are actually con artists named Nathan and Sylvia who were just trying to take the Harpers’ money.
