In 1996, fans of Eastenders were introduced to a brand new character by the name of Joe Wicks. On the surface, Joe Wicks was a handsome youngster who won over the hearts of those at home. However, his character was so much more than that.
Although he only appeared on the soap opera for a year, the producers and the actor were praised for his portrayal of schizophrenia and issues surrounding mental health. He not only attempts to take his own life, but he also exhibits strange behavior that often scares his family and friends.
