Field had starred in sitcom Gidget as the main character in 1965 and would later star in another sitcom, The Flying Nun, from 1967 to 1970. Her subtle comedy was grabbing the attention of Hollywood studios and soon she was cast to feature alongside one of Hollywood’s big name stars, Burt Reynolds. It was the casting of that movie that would change both stars’ lives forever.
