Studio execs wanted a sequel to Smokey and the Bandit, and in 1980 they got their wish, recasting Reynolds and Field as the main characters the Bandit and Carrie. This time the Bandit was transporting an elephant across the USA from Florida to Texas, while being chased by Sheriff Buford T. Justice once again.
