To acknowledge what she has been through and what she has overcome in her life, Makena decided to get a lasting memento in October 2018. After undergoing her second heart surgery, Makena has struggled to regain full strength, and she knows that she has a long way to go to be as healthy as possible.
However, to remind her of how brave and successful she’s been so far, she got her last heartbeat before she had her surgery tattooed on her wrist. It’s an incredible tattoo that will stay with her forever.
