A common roasting tactic is to make an outlandish or ungenerous assumption about someone in order to get a joke out of them – and sometimes those invented stories are so convincing that we can’t help but wonder if they’re true.
For instance, we don’t want to make any assumptions about people, but the idea that these friends met on Minecraft is one that we wouldn’t dismiss as being too unrealistic. As this one demonstrates, the strength of some roasts comes from their seeming accuracy rather than their harshness.
