When you’re in high school and getting ready to apply to college anywhere in the world, you usually have to take some tests in order to prove what you’ve learned throughout your time in school.
In the UK, students take the GCSE, or General Certificate of Secondary Education, usually around age 16. Each of the GCSE exams tests pupils on a different subject, showing prospective colleges the student’s achievements. Every August, students wait with baited breath to find out their results.
