The famous actor appeared in the successful ABC sitcom for eight seasons as self-indulgent jingle writer Charlie Harper, a character pretty much based on his life.
Then Sheen had a highly publicized – and ugly – meltdown, as part of which he called Two and a Half Men creator Chuck Lorre a “maggot” and said he “violently hated” him. Lorre didn’t take too kindly to all that, and Charlie – the character – was killed off-screen by a train. He was replaced the following season by Ashton Kutcher, but it just wasn’t the same.
