Monaghan was the third Lost actor to run into trouble and have his character die off, although in troubled musician Charlie’s case, he claimed it was almost a relief.
Charlie died a hero, saving the other character stranded on the island, but Monaghan had numerous issues with the show, his character and co-stars. He was not pleased with playing a relatively minor character in a large ensemble cast. He also had problems with the show’s stars Matthew Fox and Evangeline Lilly – whom he dated for a time – as well as the direction – or lack thereof – of his character.
