When the brooding vampire Angel got his own spinoff show from Buffy the Vampire Slayer, he left the show’s original cast largely intact save for one character – Cordelia – who switched to appearing on the new show.
At first a cruel cheerleader and then an ally in fighting evil, she appeared as a main cast member on three seasons of Buffy and four of Angel. During the filming of Angel’s fourth season, Carpenter became pregnant, and her pregnancy was written into the show. After giving birth, Cordelia slipped into a coma, and never woke up.
