Remind us to never annoy Shonda Rhimes… Most accounts of what went down agree that Knight had an on-set argument with co-star Isaiah Washington, during which he was called an offensive term that led the actor to come out in real life.
Rhimes was reportedly displeased with the negative press, while Knight was miffed at how long it took her to take care of it, and their relationship soured. The end result? Dr. O’Malley was involved in a bus crash so bad at the end of season five that his friends don’t even recognize him.
