Gibson spent 11 seasons portraying Supervisory Special Agent Aaron Hotchner – better known as “Hotch” – the head of the FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Unit.
While always taking care of business on-camera, Gibson had a troubled time on the hit CBS show, clashing with co-star Shemar Moore and being generally abusive to other staffers. Said to have suffered from severe mood swings, Gibson was accused of kicking one of the show’s staffers over a script disagreement, and was initially suspended. While Hotch wasn’t killed off per se, he was still never seen again, as he retired and went into the witness protection program.
