Charlie was Marnie’s clingy on-again, off-again boyfriend throughout the show’s first and second seasons, but then just abruptly told Allison Williams’ character that she was spoiled and he never loved her.
Cue exit from show! Abbott was the only major actor to leave the HBO show, and was originally said to have done so due to creative differences with Girls creator Lena Dunham. He later spoke about the decision, saying thee world she created wasn’t “as relatable for me on a personal level.” He returned in one episode of season five, in which Marnie dumps him for good.
