[post_page_title]Valerie Harper as Valerie Hogan on Valerie[/post_page_title]
Phew, that’s a lot of Valerie’s. In this rare instance, an actor got fired from their own show. After stints on The Mary Tyler Moore Show and Rhoda, NBC gave Harper her own sitcom, and named it after her.
Two successful seasons later, and she thought she deserves more money. Sound familiar? She walked off once, then an agreement was reached and she filmed one episode of season three, only to talk out again. NBC had had enough and fired her, killing off her character. Amazingly, the show – which was retitled twice – ran for four more seasons.
