Shortly after saying goodbye to the cast of Friday Night Lights, Jesse landed a recurring role as Todd on the immensely popular crime-drama Breaking Bad. He then landed another role in several episodes of the hit FX crime-thriller Fargo. He also appeared in a few films such as the 2012 sci-fi Battleship and the 2015 biographical-crime drama starring Johnny Depp, Black Mass. He was last seen in the CBS comedy show No Activity as Angus. In January 2017, Jesse got engaged to movie star Kirsten Dunst, who is now pregnant with their first child.
