Derek’s role on Friday Night Lights really launched the actor’s career, and still remains the role he is most recognized for. He did continue to appear in several popular TV series such as the ABC’s crime show Castle and the popular family-drama Parenthood. However, most of the roles he landed were minor. Most recently he has had a recurring role in the Marvel series Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. as Agent O’Brien, and another as Travis Murphy on the Netflix Western crime-drama Longmire.
