Lyla Garrity, the daughter of former Dillon football star Buddy Garrity, is portrayed by Minka Kelly. Lyla is a former captain of the cheerleading team and former fiancée of Jason Street – the star quarterback who became paralyzed during a game his senior year. At first she tries to maintain her relationship with Jason after his accident, but she ends up being unfaithful and the engagement is called off. By the second season, she quits cheerleading and turns to religion. She dates football star Tim Riggins for a while, which doesn’t work out in the end.
