Although Allison proved that she was capable of reaching 14 feet, she couldn’t manage it when it counted most. During qualifiers for the Olympic team, Stokke was unable to clear the opening height.
It was set at 13 feet 11 ¼ inches, so the pole vaulter was more than capable of getting over it, but a bad day saw her Olympic hopes get dashed. It was a tough blow for the athlete, especially as she’d been having such a great season. However, Allison was determined to look forward, not backward.
