Stokke was so firm in her belief that she didn’t deserve all the publicity that she turned down plenty of lucrative offers. The pole vaulter had the chance to model for a variety of magazines and appear on their covers, as well as feature as a guest on popular talk shows of the time.
However, she refused them all because she didn’t feel she’d earned the attention. To this day, she never regrets turning them down because she knows her looks were the only reason they’d approached her anyway.
