Shannon, Barney’s first girlfriend, was played by Katie Walder. Together, they join the Peace Corps and plan on going to Nicaragua. However, Shannon has an affair with another guy named Greg. She tries to tell Barney that her father won’t let her go to Nicaragua, but instead of moving on, Barney goes to her house and sees her father to try to convince him of letting her go. He walks in on her and Greg and poor Barney is left brokenhearted. However, six years later they reunite.
