To say that Kate and William’s breakup came as a shock to the people of the United Kingdom would be a massive understatement. Everyone was ready to hear chimes of wedding bells, but instead got tabloid headlines about a breakup.
Even Patrick Jephson, the late Princess Diana’s private secretary, wrote an article titled “The next People’s Princess,” in which he described what a welcome and much-needed addition Kate would make for the Royal Family. He would eventually be proven right, of course – it just took more time than he’d anticipated.
