Afshan Azad was picked for the part of Padma Patil after a casting session she attended ‘just for the fun of it.’ Although she did not think she would get the role, she was over the moon to discover that she was successful.
Since then, Afshan has stayed out of the limelight – but a recent court case thrust her back into the media. When she was just 22-years-old, Afshan’s father and brother appeared in court after they threatened her life, after it was discovered that she was dating a non-Muslim man.
