At 22 years old, it was time to work on her latest music video. Aaliyah, along with a team of crew, all flew to the Bahamas to shoot a music video for Rock the Boat. It was 2001, and around 60 people all arrived on the set to help. However, this is where the story starts to differ. While Aaliyah had one version of events, the director of the video, Hype Williams, states the singer left halfway through filming even though they needed to get more shots.
