Apparently, Aaliyah had been sitting on the song Rock the Boat for two years before they began to shoot the video. So why was the single such a secret? It’s said the record label deemed the lyrics too inappropriate and thought it would ruin Aaliyah’s image if they released the song while she was still so young. Thankfully, they eventually gave in allowed the 22-year-old to premiere her song. By the time it was released, it stayed in the charts for 25 weeks.
