For a long while, the anesthesiologist was the highest paid job in the United States. It’s currently third, but that’s still pretty impressive. This is a similar role to an anesthetist, but an anesthesiologist must have more qualifications.
In fact, many states legally decree that a surgeon must use a highly qualified anesthesiologist as opposed to an anesthetist, and this is probably the main reason for the salary difference. This is such a delicate and serious job, and that’s why it’s so highly paid.
