By 1988 the members of New Edition wanted to change their sound. They were ready to mature from their previous bubblegum music and release more mature and stronger music that would relate to adults rather than teenagers. Their newest album Heart Break was a hit among adults, and became the band’s most commercially successful album, reaching certified double platinum status soon after its release. Heart Break included songs like Can You Stand The Rain and Crucial, and it launched New Edition into another successful concert tour.
