[post_page_title]Big break[/post_page_title]
In 1982 New Edition got their first big break. They entered a singing competition at the Strand Theater in Hollywood, which was being hosted by the producer and singer Maurice Starr. New Edition came in second, when the first place prize would have granted them a recording contract and $500. However, New Edition didn’t leave empty-handed. Starr was impressed and invited New Edition to the studio to record what would be one of their greatest hits, the very next day after the talent competition.
