[post_page_title]Tsetse flies[/post_page_title]
If you ever find yourself in Africa, keep an eye out for these Tsetse flies – because you’re going to want to steer clear of them. Although these flies live off the blood of vertebrates, they often get up close and personal with humans. A sting from one of these guys can cause human sleeping sickness, symptoms of which include fevers, insomnia, numbness, and confusion. In 1887, much of Africa was overrun with these flies, and they ultimately killed almost 500,000 people, and much of the cattle in the area.
